Meeting Green

Soak it Up! Competition

The Soak It Up! competition launched in 2012 exploring solutions for sustainable water management practices across many built typologies in Philadelphia.
Our design for Meeting Green took first place in the residential category for greening our neighborhoods.

The design and presentation was a volunteer effort at OLIN that was developed into a Green Infrastructure approach for our residential communities. It was decided that these interventions at a smaller, community scale would have the largest and most cost-effective impact in improving our storm water management practices.

The first approach examined corridors as connecting infrastructure; not only as a means for transporting water but also for linking the neighborhoods between destinations, one important destination being the Delaware Waterfront.

At these destinations, community and sustainability are at the forefront of the designs. Through methods of creating pedestrian and recreational spaces along with water retention green spaces, Meeting Green proves to offer future solutions for improving our neighborhoods.
